November Speaker

Ambassador Mary Mel French is our featured speaker Thursday, November 11th at 6:15pm. She served as Chief of Protocol during the Clinton administration, working directly with the President and Secretary of State.

“Protocol is not political; knowing no party lines, it is a body of basic courtesies and rules that influence how people get along,” French maintains.

From her unique perspective of access to the highest levels of government, French discusses the importance of meticulous etiquette in official international events, creating the setting for encounters that affect global relationships.

With entertaining personal insights, the Ambassador will share experiences from Washington, behind the scenes.

Mary Mel French has created a comprehensive guide to diplomatic protocol at international, national, and state levels, that was published this summer. Her book, United States Protocol: The Guide to Official Diplomatic Etiquette, published by Rowman & Littlefield Publishers, Inc., includes a forward by former President Bill Clinton.
