Surprisingly, according to Dallas, Texas author Jeanne Guerra, more suicides occur during the spring than at any other time. Jeanne has written a very personal and original book on the topic of suicide. She will be speaking about her novel, Softly As I Leave You, at Lochwood Branch Library, March 19 at 1:30.
Jeanne’s novel is a response to the loss of her Young, talented goddaughter Shayne. The book focuses on the family coming to grips with her suicide. During an imagined journey of recovery therapy, Shayne’s own words, from journals, give her a presence at the sessions.
Shayne’s mother, Sharon Kohout, who is an active suicide prevention advocate, will accompany Jeanne.
